Towards a new horizon.

TOREE is a registered welfare society in Kolkata, working since 2015 with underprivileged children and rural communities across West Bengal, through education, relief, and the everyday work of care.

What we do

Six commitments, one mission.

What started as a small circle of homemakers meeting informally in September 2015 has grown into a full-fledged welfare society. Every initiative below traces back to the same idea: showing up, consistently, for people who are too often overlooked.

01

Education

The Bidyayan Scholarship supports Higher Secondary students from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds, awarded each year since 2019.

02

Visually impaired students

A platform for visually impaired students to perform in music, recitation, dance and drama at our club programmes.

03

Underprivileged children

Orphans, street children and children from red-light districts join us for festivals, celebrations and creative activities through the year.

04

Rural communities

Mosquito nets, winter clothing and garments reach disadvantaged families in remote villages of South 24 Parganas and beyond.

05

Environment

Our 'Save Green' campaign promotes water conservation, tree planting and reducing plastic waste, on the streets and on social media.

06

Relief work

When calamity strikes, as it did with cyclone Yaas in 2021, we distribute food, garments and essentials in the affected districts.

Our goal now is to widen our reach, bringing more people into our fold to share our vision, so that together we stay committed to the well-being of the weaker sections of society.

Get involved

There is always a place at the table.

Whether it is a scholarship, a set of winter clothes, or an afternoon spent with children on the streets of Kolkata, the work of TOREE happens because people choose to show up. Reach out to learn how you can help.
